MADURAI: With one Corona virus positive case reported from Madurai city last evening, the Madurai district administration and health department authorities are on complete alert today- 24th March 2020.
Madurai District Collector Dr.T.G.Vinay told reporters here today at a press conference that 60 persons with whom the Corona positive person was in contact are being traced now and all steps will be taken to put them in home quarantine in public health interest.
“The person who tested positive in Madurai city took part in a function recently in which 60 persons participated….That 54-year-old male has tested Corona positive… His primary contacts and his family members will be under our scanner as a part of precautionary steps to prevent the spread of Corona virus,” Dr.Vinay said at the press meet.
The affected person’s son is put in isolation ward for observation. Since the virus infected person had attended a function here a few days back, his contacts are being traced. Health, Revenue and Police departments are on the field in this particular case.
The infected person regularly goes to mosque and he is in Anna Nagar area in Madurai city. The authorities in Madurai are closely monitoring.
