These Madurai peacocks need a sanctuary: VHP (Video)

MADURAI: A strong appeal has been made to set up a safe sanctuary for the peacocks in Tiruparankundram in Madurai.

“Being a beautiful national bird of India, peacocks deserve top most attention of Central and State governments besides from all bird lovers across our country. The Madurai district administration has not taken any steps to set up a peacock sanctuary in Tiruparankundram in Madurai where the peacock count is very good,” Mr.Kaliappan, Vishwa Hindu Parishad State Secretary, has demanded today while talking to reporters here (15th March 2020).

He pointed out that devotees who come to the famous Lord Murugan Temple in Tiruparankundram are welcomed by peacocks during their ‘girivalam’ up the hill shrine and hence these peacocks should be protected by the authorities through a sanctuary and other measures.
Mr.Kaliappan also demanded the district administration, temple authorities and the State government to improve the public amenities at Tiruparankundram temple in Madurai.
