MADURAI: People belonging to ‘Kodikal Pillaimar’ community in Madurai Central Assembly constituency have come forward to support the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Lok Sabha and Assembly elections.
A meeting of Kodikal Pillamars welfare association Ponnagaram was held at a marriage hall in Maninagaram in Madurai on February 10th 2019 Sunday evening where they expressed open support to the party in elections.
6,500 FAMILIES ARE THERE:
According to BJP Madurai City unit district general secretary Mr.D.M.Balakrishnan, there are about 6,500 Kodikal Pillaimar families in Madurai Central Assembly segment and it is for the first time the association office-bearers at their meeting had expressed their open support to a political party in their meeting “because they are impressed with the BJP’s reach out for people’s requirements.”
Tamil Nadu BJP State Secretary Prof.Dr.R.Srinivasan was invited to address the Kodikal Pillaimar association members at their meeting on February 10th, along with Mr.D.M.Balakrishnan.
Among those who spoke at the meeting were Kodikal Pillaimar association president Mr.Ramasamy, association secretary Mr.Sankar and Mr.Shanmughavel @ Prakash of the youth wing.
